Your account

Deleting your account

You can delete your Rilver account, and everything stored with it, from inside the app. It does not need a request, an explanation, or a wait.

In the app

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Account.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Confirm. You are signed out on every device straight away.

If you cannot get into the app

Write to support@rilver.app from the email address the account uses. We will confirm it is you, delete the account, and tell you when it is done, within 30 days at most and normally within a few working days.

If you no longer have access to that address, say so. We will ask for something else that shows the account is yours rather than refusing outright.

What is removed, and what is not

Deleted

  • Your account and email address
  • Every sign-in session, on every device
  • Your mailbox connection and its stored access token
  • Every article, saved ones included, and the original messages behind them
  • Every page you photographed
  • Your colour and type settings
  • Your colour test results and the individual answers behind them
  • Your category preferences and ratings

Kept, and why

  • Narration audio. Stored under a key derived from the text and the voice rather than from who asked for it, so it is not attached to your account and cannot be identified as yours. Anything nothing has played for 90 days is deleted on a schedule regardless.
  • Payment records. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and their records are theirs. Where we must keep transaction records for accounting or tax, we keep only what the law requires.
  • Backups. Kept for a short rolling period and then overwritten. Your data stays in a backup until it rotates out; it is not restored or used for anything in the meantime.

Cancelling a subscription is separate

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, because the subscription lives in your app store account rather than in Rilver. Cancel it through Apple or Google before you delete, or you may continue to be billed for an account that no longer exists.

If you only want it to stop reading your mail

You do not need to delete your account for that. In the app, go to Settings → Sources and disconnect. The stored access token is deleted immediately, and you can also remove access from your email provider's own security page.

Everything you have already read stays where it is, and the app keeps working.
